Shellfish Closures

vdh

Below are the links to the updated shellfish closures cond054-021 "Back River” and cond054-215 "Harris River, Long and Grunland Creeks". Both are found in the Cities of Hampton and Poquoson and both are scheduled to go into effect 18 October 2018.

A conditional management plan was written that supports seasonal closures in portions of the Back River and its tributaries in Growing Area # 54 in Hampton and Poquoson. The Conditionally Approved (Seasonally Condemned) areas will be labeled in these shellfish closure documents as Sections S98 and S99. The conditionally classified areas will remain in closed status from April 1 through October 31 corresponding to the warmer months when bacteria concentrations more frequently exceed the NSSP standard.
